The transfer window is only one week away from being shut but given Arsene Wenger’s knack for doing business ate in the transfer market, we cannot rule out the signing of top-notch players one or before deadline day.
Thomas Lemar headlined Arsenal transfer wave from the opening of the window but Arsenal inability to meet the player’s valuation means he’s still a Monaco player. While, Wenger has ruled out a move a move for Lemar, reports have indicated that Arsenal have had talks with Virgil Van Dijk over a potential move.
The claim was made by a media personality from Fox Sport James Dodd, who took to twitter and claimed that all parties required have met in a bid to see Van Dijk join Arsenal.
Van Dijk has been linked with a move to Liverpool and then Chelsea but despite handing a transfer request to the Saints, they have refused to sell the star. Southampton had accused Liverpool of tapping up the Dutch centre-back, and they were forced to apologies, but the Saint have said they would not listen to offers from Liverpool.
However, it appears that Liverpool and Chelsea are set to miss out on the player who could switch to Arsenal.
Dodd is obviously an Arsenal fan and see his claim on twitter below.
Arsenal have sold Gabriel Paulista to Valencia and Arsene Wenger dropped a hint that he could allow Shkodran Mustafu leave. Albeit we cannot ascertain the veracity of this report, but when you add up everything, you’d realise that Arsenal may be truly interested in signing Van Dijk to replace Mustafi.
Southampton were holding out for £60m(€66m) for the player but Wenger would not pay that whopping sum on a defender but we wait to see how it pans out.
