Arsenal and Liverpool prime target wants Man United deal next summer

Manchester United have been boosted in their race for Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij as the player confirmed his departure by the end of the season.

Vrij whose season has been a successful one told reporters that he has decided to end his stay with the Serie A giants as he wants to face a new challenge in other leagues.

Earlier this week, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare revealed both parties would part ways having failed to agree on a new contract extension.

The Holland international has been heavily tipped by pundits and reporters to be heading to the Premier League as top clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have already shown their interest to sign the impressive full-back. However, The Metro have claimed that the player wants to join Man United.

The player doesn’t seem ready to quit playing for Lazio, but the financial value in his new proposed contract didn’t look attractive enough to keep him for more seasons.

According to De Vrij via his verified Instagram account, he is disappointed to be leaving the Stadio Olimpico in the summer, but he needs to move to another club to see how things are being done.

He also pleaded to the fans who have supported him since he arrived the club in 2014. According to him, he never wanted to depart from the fans who have shown him love, but he’s forced to make the decision due to the contract offered him by the club.

He concluded by praising the team for the warm accommodation they gave to him throughout his stay at the Stadio Olimpico.
