Arsene Wenger has a knack for not bolstering his squad early in the transfer window until recently when he defied what used to be his norm to sign Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette far-off the close of the transfer window.
Having got the better of the transfer window, Arsene Wenger’s challenge thus far is getting some of his squad members to sign contract extensions. Mesut Ozil, Oxlade Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez have held Arsenal to ransom over new contracts, and the latter is edging closer to a move to Arsenal’s capital rivals Manchester City.
According to O’Jogo, Alexis Sanchez has agreed personal terms to switch the Emirates Stadium for the Etihad ahead of a £50m move.
However, a new twist is currently making the rounds as the Mirror has claimed that Arsenal will sell Sanchez to Man City on the condition that they pay £80m for the Chilean. If Lukaku is worth £75m, Sanchez should be worth more you know.
Sanchez is in the final year of his contract with Arsenal and he has stalled over improved contract offers handed to him by Arsenal. Initially, it was believed that he was unsatisfied with the wage the Gunners are offering him but that has turned out false as the report by O’jogo claims Sanchez has already informed Arsene Wenger of his desire to move on.
Arsenal fell below the first quartet of the Premier League last season, hence will not play in the Champions league next season. This is said to be his main reason for wanting to dump Arsenal.
“Not playing in the Champions League is a big deal for Alexis, he is motivated to participate and win it,’ a source close to Sanchez told El Mercurio.
‘Alexis spoke to his team-mates in Russia about the subject, he has spoken with his family as well.
‘All of them came to the same conclusion – it is best for him to end his journey with Arsenal and join City.
‘Alexis is not willing for that, for any reason, [to stay at Arsenal] his idea is to leave in this moment.’
Arsene Wenger has showed ambition as it is given in his success in the transfer window this summer. Together with Lacazette and Ozil, Sanchez would form part of a potent trio in the League.
