Arsenal had a disappointing season last term and you would expect Arsene Wenger to be more pragmatic than his capital rivals in the transfer window. Alas, Man United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all bolstered their squad substantially but Arsene Wenger has only spent on Alexandre Lacazette.
Given the headcount of redundant players at the Emirates, we expect a massive exodus of players and Spain international Lucas Perez is one among other Arsenal players that is bound to leave Arsenal this window.
Perez has been on the transfer radar of Spanish side Deportivo Lucuruna but they have seen their paltry offer of £8million rebuffed for the player. Reports according to London Evening Standard claim the Gunners have slapped the suitors of Perez with a £13.4million price tag.
Perez joined Arsenal last summer with so much expectation but the Spaniard has been reduced to the fringes. He started in only nine matches for the Gunners last term and he is wary of his chances for Spanish national team ahead of the World Cup next summer.
Arsene Wenger had dismissed the sale of the player recently but the agent of the player Rodrigo Fernandez reckons that Arsenal are just trying to milk as much as they can from him.
“If he [Wenger] said Lucas was leaving he would have to cut the price for him to exit,” Fernandez told The Standard.
“It is logical [to say he’s staying]. He is a good businessman”
The 28-year-old will not get playing time at the club given the plethora of options at the disposal of Arsene Wenger. His best bet at playing regularly is away from Arsenal and so, no need for Arsenal playing hardball.
