Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the Gunners are doing everything within the power of the club to get Jack Wishere to sign a new contract, according to reports.
Wilshere is among Arsenal’s players whose contract expire at the of this season but it appears that the England international wants to continue lacing his boots for the Gunners, hence talks are currently ongoing for a new improved deal for the midfielder.
Alexis Sanchez is already nearing a move to Manchester United but Wenger has insisted that despite Mesut Ozil’s refusal to sign a new deal, he will be at the Emirates beyond January. And so, the French manager is looking to keep the other players at the club.
With Wenger shoving the idea of retirement, he may get his wish of getting Wilshere to sign a new Arsenal deal.
“We know what we want. We want him to stay,” the coach told reporters on Thursday.
“After that we have to find a financial agreement with Jack that is good for him. That’s what we’re trying to do.”
Wilshere spent the most part of last season on loan with the Cherries, where his barnstorming season was scuppered by an injury. He has fully recovered and he’s currently the standout performer for Arsenal in recent games.
There is the general idea that Arsenal are currently in crisis following a series of dismal performances in the League and other competitions. The London Club have also sold Francis Coquelin and Theo Walcott but they are yet to bolster their squad.
Wilshere currently earns £90,000 a week at Arsenal and the new deal is expected to make him one of the highest paid players at the club.
