Antonio Rudiger was left in a state of confusion after he was dropped by Antonio Conte in Chelsea’s game against Southampton, per reports.
Rudiger revealed that he was fit to play in the Southampton win but he has no idea why he was dropped to the bench.
Rudiger was found questioning the tactics of Conte following Chelsea’s draw against West Ham and it is believed that the Italian tactician was left furious over the comments of the player.
It will be recalled that David Luiz incurred the wrath of Antonio Conte after he failed to play to instruction – Rudiger may have incurred the same wrath of Conte and he may be left on bench of Chelsea.
Rudiger said: “I think in the second half we [could] finish the game [off]. But like the last few months, we didn’t and we [conceded].
“For me, it’s not easy to explain. I don’t understand why after 1-0 we always drop and let the opponent get more ball possession.”
It is believed that the above comments triggered the anger of Conte. Chelsea came from 2 goals down to salvage three points and Rudiger did not even travel to the south coast.
The German centre-back was quizzed on German TV show “Das aktuelle Sportstudio” was he was not in the match day squad and he said: “I have no idea. I am fully fit.”
Gary Cahill played in the stead on Rudiger and the English man was found struggling.
