There were speculations on Monday that the fate of Antonio Conte as the manager of Chelsea was dependent on the outcome of the Watford game. Shockingly, Chelsea succumbed to an embarrassing defeat at Vicarage Road and Conte appear to have challenge the Principal of the Blues Roman Abramovich to sack him.
Conte only signed a contract extension with Chelsea last summer but his place has become increasingly uncertain over his transfer comments and the poor performance of his side. Chelsea had lost to Bournemouth last weekend but Conte sought for a vote of confidence from Abramovich amid speculations that he will be fired if he failed to win Watford.
Chelsea conceded four goals against the Hornets and the result means they have conceded at least three goals in consecutive games and this has happened for the first time since 1995. It is now only a matter of when and not if Conte will soon be booted out of Stamford Bridge.
Conte faced the press after the game last night but he claimed he was not under any form of pressure, and he went further to suggest that he’ll accept any decision the Clubs makes about his position.
Conte said: “My position? It is the same. I stay here, try to work and put all myself in the work.
“The pressure? Which pressure? What is the pressure?
“I work – if this is enough it is, OK. Otherwise, the club has to take another decision.”
Bakayoko was sent off the game after 30mins and it created a major hole in the midfield of Chelsea.
