Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Turkey international and Beskitas creative midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup , according to reports.
The former Arsenal star joined Besiktas in the summer of 2012 after failing to impress under Arsene Wenger – he has flourished with the Super Lig side since the moving, earning over 200 appearances and leading the side to two League titles as their Captain.
Ozyakup is in the final year of his current contract with the Black Eagles and he has stalled over signing a new deal, prompting heavy speculations that he wants a move away from the Club, with Arsenal named as his most probable destination.
Arsene Wenger has been impressed with the recent displays of the 25-year-old star and FootballLondon have claimed that the midfielder is close to rejoining Arsenal as a free agent.
As a free agent, a player is free to discuss terms and they are most paid heavy wages. The report by Football London cited another report from Turkish outlet Aksam, with claims that the players has held personal talks with Wenger over a potential move and the offer made for him is heavily tempting him to complete a move.
The departure of Francis Coquelin and the near-permanent absence of Santi Cazorla means Arsenal are in need of a midfielder in the mould of Ozyakup. Although many have called for Wenger to sign a maverick defensive midfielder, the aforementioned midfielder will certainly provide option for Wenger.
