Manchester United are set to pip Chelsea and Liverpool to the signing of exciting prospects Italian Nicollo Barella and PSV Eindhoven’s Steven Bergwijn.
United are keen on strengthening their side and the board have put their ears down to the requests of caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer grabbed the reins of the outfit in December after the club terminated Jose Mourinho contract following a long run of poor results.
The former United striker and super sub has managed to steer the club back to winning ways and to their one aim–to remain in the Champions League–next season, as they eye a top four finish.
If United managed to gather as much points this latter half, they could be in the competition next term. And should that happen, the prospect of having Barella and Bergwijn in the team is definitely an exciting moment to watch.
Chelsea looked to have nailed the deal for Barella, only for the Red Devils to swoop in late to take up the Italian midfielder. Barella was meant to replace Cesc Fabregas who joined Monaco this month, but Chelsea failed to meet his valuation on time, as United have reportedly knocked out the Blues in the race. This would only mean one thing, they surpassed the FA Cup holders bid.
Meanwhile, United appear to have snatched PSV winger Bergwijn, and could have him in by the summer.
