Manchester United and England left-back Ashley Young is set to extend his contract with the 20-time Premier League Champions. Having established himself as a regular starter in Mourinho’s team, the 32-year-old whose contract will expire by the end of the season is set to extend his stay at Old Trafford by one more season.
Young was surprisingly named ahead of rejuvenated Luke Shaw in the starting lineup against Sevilla and Chelsea by José Mourinho, and the Portuguese manager wants to continue working with him for another year.
Just as Ashley Young, Dailey Blind is set to be offered a one-year contract extension by the Red Devils as they hope to tie him to Old Trafford beyond this season. It is yet to be seen if the Dutchman would love to remain with Mourinho who has sparingly used him since he arrived at Old Trafford in 2016.
Blind has only featured in just four minutes in the league since August as he has had to deal with several injuries. Despite returning to full fitness, Mourinho preferred using Matic, Paul Pogba and England’s youngster Scott Mctominay at the middle of the pitch.
Johnstone is another player who could be offered a new contract before the end of the season as he has entered the last phase of his contract with Manchester United.
The goalkeeper who is on loan at Aston Villa could renew his contract ahead of next season, but there are possibilities that he might also move to the Villa Park on permanent deal as the Championship side hope to buy him outrightly before the start of next season should they be promoted to the topflight.
