The transfer activities of Jose Mourinho this summer could pass for a huge success, albeit he’s called for calm, it is evident that the Red Devils are a major contenders for the Premier League title this term.
Jose Mourinho, known to be very pragmatic in the transfer window, has spent the excess of £150m on the signing of Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic. And while Zlatan Ibrahimovic has signed a new deal with Man United, Jose Mourinho has come-off the transfer market and together with club Chief Ed Woodward have now turned their attention to handing contract extensions to players who are on the verge of running out their deal.
While the new boys of Mourinho appear to have bedded into the team of the Red Devils, Mourinho confirmed that he would have love to sign a fourth play but he obviously has given up on that.
“Everyone knows I would like a fourth player and I can’t hide that because I had it in my mind,” Mourinho reiterated during his press conference on Friday. “But I am happy if I am not going to have [a fourth player] and I don’t think I am going to have.”
According to the Sun, Ed Woodward has now focused on handing contract extension deals to deserving players – Marouane Fellaini, Sam Johnstones, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Daley Blind, Michael Carrick and Andreas Pereira are not expected to be offered contract extension deals while Juan Mata and his compatriot, Ander Herrera are expected to tie their foreseeable future to the club’s.
Andreas Pereira has been heavily linked with a move to Valencia and it will be shock if the prospective star is not handed a new deal methinks.
