Chelsea won the Premier League last season with a record-breaking 30 wins in the league. Each area of the team; from the attack, midfield and defence, delivered perfectly as Antonio Conte followed in the footstep of Jose Mourinho to win the League in his debut season in England.
But the Italian manager is not resting his oars as he is keen on bolstering his squad this summer, especially taking into consideration the added challenge of competing in the Champions League next season.
And not to forget that main striker Diego Costa is likely to quit the Stamford Bridge this summer and Michy Batshuayi also wants out of the club after spending major parts of last season on the bench.
In the light of that, Chelsea have been linked with a host of top-class forward like Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez, Borussia Dortmund ‘s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Torino’s Andrea Belotti among others.
Of course, contrary to Chelsea expectations, they missed out on their top target Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.
However, of the aforementioned names, Andrea Belotti appears to be the perfect replacement for Costa in the Blues final third. And that cannot be far-fetched as his tactical prowess speaks for him and to have big clubs like Arsenal, Man United, Barcelona and Real Madrid trailing him is no surprise.
Though signing him will set Chelsea aback by £88 million-his release clause – as against £70 million for Alvaro Morata.
The AlbinoLeffe academy product is very speedy, good on the ball and influential on the field like Costa. He holds the ball up very well, great in the air and can play anywhere across the attacking position.
He is an out-and-out striker with a good eye for the ball. Another impressive fact about him is that he creates chances for his team-mates.
Signing him will make Costa’s departure of less effect on Chelsea.
