Almost done: Philippe Coutinho agree 5-year deal with Barcelona
With the transfer market still very much open and money being the tool that mainly determines the transfer of players, we cannot rule out the possibility of surprises in the window.
Philippe Coutinho has been on the transfer radar of Barcelona and reports by the Express have indicated that the player is nearing a move to the Camp Nou after agreeing to put pen to paper on a five year deal.
Barcelona are short of options in midfield and the Blaugrana side are revamping their team. Coutinho has been on the radar of the side for quite some time now and his representatives have had a meeting with Barcelona to finalise his move.
The Camp Nou side had reportedly made a £72million bids for the player but it was rebuffed by the Reds but Catalan newspaper Sport claim Barcelona are willing to now offer €85m (£76m), which they believe will be accepted by Liverpool for the player’s transfer.
The Reds may be unable to resist the mammoth offers for their star midfielder but they are also in the chase of Leipzig Naby Keita and should Coutinho leave, it will leave them with no choice than to sign his replacement.
Confirming Barcelona’s interest in the player, Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu dropped a huge hint that a deal could be in the offing for the midfielder.
“He’s a Liverpool player and I have a lot of respect for Liverpool, which we do in the summer is to be very discreet about everything, so we can not confirm or deny anything.
“There will be more players (coming in), one in the middle, sure.”
However, Paris Saint Germain have also being urged to sign the player but it is left to be seen where he ends up.
