Almost done: Man United agree deal for the transfer of wing back, Mourinho sanctions deal

The transfer window is gradually winding down and when the Premier League kicks-off next week, the clubs will be fully focused on securing points than completing transfers.

According to latest reports making the rounds, Manchester United right back Guillermo Varela’s is set to return to former club Penarol, after failing to impress Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old Uruguayan had an impressive outing at the South-American youth Championship in the summer of 2013 – he drew attention to himself from United and he was handed a trial before the Red Devils handed him a contract two weeks later.

Varela struggled to secure a place in the team to David Moyes and he was sent on loan to Real Madrid’s B team where he featured regularly. Jose Mourinho handed him a chance in United pre-season last summer but he failed to impress and was dropped from United’s team ahead of the season before he was sent on loan to  Eintracht Frankfurt.

Varela is yet to return to Man United this summer and he was left out of the Red Devils pre-season squad. M.E.N reveals that the an agreement is now in place for the player to re-join his former club Penarol.

A three-year deal is in the offing for the right back according to the report.

“Guillermo decided to play in Penarol for personal tranquility,” a source close to the player told the Manchester Evening News.

“The player decided it after how badly he was treated in Frankfurt. His experience in Europe was not good.

“In 2017/18, Guillermo would have been making only £4,000 per week.”

Goodluck to the lad.
