14 year old Swedish midfield sensation, Rines Arifi could well be on his way to the Old Trafford after being invited for trials at the Manchester club later this month. Arifi, currently on the books for the 2nd and 3rd string youth teams of Swedish side Husie IF is already brimming with confidence and optimism ahead of his trial.
A versatile midfielder able to play in a variety of positions, Arifi has been scheduled to train with Manchester United for a week, starting 23rd October 2017. Speaking to Lokaltidningen, the youngster stated enthusiastically: “Manchester United has been my favourite football team ever since I was a kid. To have this opportunity feels so great and overwhelming”.
Arifi’s father, Hajriz also noted; “It is almost impossible to tell how amazing it is to have this opportunity to go on trial with United”. Speaking about his son’s prospects on the trial, he also added; “United are a top club, and they will assess him based on several criteria, no doubt. I know that if he impresses well, he will be invited to the academy.”
Speaking further, Hajiriz underscored his son’s love for and commitment to the game. Having followed the game since childhood, Arifi identified United Ace Paul Pogba, Swedish icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well as Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo as his role models.
If all goes well, he will likely become United’s third Swedish player, joining fellow swedes Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Victor Lindelof.
