Almost done: Ed Woodward sanction Man United record deal for £100m Mourinho’s favourite

The January transfer window is beaconing upon us and the media wave is already awash with reports of Man United going into the market to sign reinforcement for the second half of the season.

According to emerging reports, Jose Mourinho is ready to smash Man United transfer record to land Senegal and Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

The backline of United have been the weakest link in the squad and Mourinho has asked the top brass of the club to make a budget for the signing of a defender.

Several names have been mentioned on the British tabloid as targets for United but the player that tickles the fancy of Mourinho most is Koulibaly. He has remained on the transfer radar of Man United since last summer after recommendation from by former scout Javier Ribalta.

It is very well documented that clubs do not let their best players leave mid-way through the season but in these days, when the money is right, anything can happen. It is claimed by London Evening Standard that Napoli are prepared the player leave but for nothing less than £100million.

United have already had two bids for the player rejected but the report further claims Ed Woodward will allow Mourinho shatter Liverpool’s  £75m Virgil Van Dijk record deal.

The Senegalese is not the only player linked with a move to United – Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire are also on the radar of the Red Devils.
