Chelsea are prepared to shoulder Alvaro Morata out of the way when they dip into the transfer market for Cherries forward Callum Wilson in January.
The Blues admiration for the Bournemouth forward is swirling. Morata’s form has made for a dismal display in front of goal and Chelsea have grown completely frustrated.
The Blues already have a shortlist of targets they are aiming for in the market and Cherries striker Wilson made the cut.
Wilson has been firing on all cylinders, delivering the goods for Bournemouth. The striker has notched up eight goals this term in 15 appearances for the Cherries.
Sarri may continue to have Hazard reprise the role of a false striker until they shop for targets in January.
And his assistant Gianfranco Zola has confirmed gossips that milled about in news outlets revealing that Chelsea are chasing after Bournemouth’s Wilson.
Zola did not play down a possible transfer in January. In fact, the assistant confessed that the Wilson is of interest for Chelsea.
“I’m sure there are a lot of players linked with us,” said Zola during Tuesday’s news conference before they meet Bournemouth on Wednesday evening.
“Callum is doing well and is of interest not only for us but for many.”
Certainly, Chelsea have a load of options in January, but are strongly keen to sign Wilson who could arrive at a less steep fee, than targets like Mauro Icardi who Chelsea still have eyes on.
