Chelsea’s defeat to Burnley in their Premier League opener highlighted the need for more bodies to be added to their otherwise strong squad and Antonio Conte has now been handed a huge budget to make some signings.
Away from incoming transfers, Chelsea are currently in talks with Bundesliga outfit Schalke in a bid to transfer Baba Rahman on loan, this is according to report.
Rahman joined Chelsea in the summer of 2015 from Augsburg but the left wing back has struggled to impose himself on the first team of the Blues.
Under Antonio Conte, the Ghanaian left back failed to impress for Chelsea in their pre-season games last summer and he was sent on loan to Schalke. He had a barnstorming season with them, making 21 appearances but injury scuppered his campaign.
However, the Veltins Arena outfit are yet keen to take back the star on another loan spell this season. Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that talks are currently ongoing for the player to complete the move.
“We are in talks with the player, his agent and Chelsea,” Heidel said.
“Ultimately, it is about when Baba will be able to play again. No decision has been made yet.”
Rahman has been out of action since January but Conte is also looking to give Marcos Alonso competition on the left wing. The Blues may consider keeping the Blues in the scheme of things.
Rahman has a contract with Chelsea untill 2020 but since joining, he has only managed to make 23 appearances for the Blues.
Rahman is valued 15,00 Mill. € according to transfermarkt.
