Elseid Hysaj was a transfer prime target for Maurizio Sarri but his appointment by Chelsea as manager thwarted the possibility of a move for the star, according to report.
Sarri was charged with the responsibility of bring back the glory days for the Blues but first, he was asked to qualify the club for the Champions league, after they ended last season outside the top-four.
The Italian manager has bolstered the squad of the Blues with the signing of Jorginho and Kovacic. Following the conundrum that surrounded the change of manager at the club, Chelsea were involved late on in the transfer window.
And now, the agent of Hysaj, Mario Giuffredi has revealed that the Albanian was on the radar of Chelsea.
“We were talking about the renewal of Hysaj already during the transfer window,” Giuffredi told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Then there was the Sarri question but he wounded himself.
“I have expressed my thoughts to [Napoli sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli.
“They will make their own reflections and we will see what will happen.”
Hysaj, 24, is a top-notch right bank that has balanced his art of defending with attacking, and he greatly appeals to Sarri, who has Moses, Azpilicueta and Zappacosta in that position.
Chelsea are expected to try to sign a centre-back when the transfer window comes alive in January.
The player is valued at 25,00 Mill. € according to transfermarkt.
