With a new manager set to succeed Arsene Wenger, there are bound to be in-ward and outward transfers to and from the club.According to reports making the rounds, Arsenal striker Lucas Perez is considering joining Seria A side Lazio.
Perez was a key player for Deportivo Lacuruna before joining Arsenal in the summer of 2016. Although many have argued that Arsene Wenger never believed in the player’s ability, the Spaniard failed to take his chances when he was called upon to play.
Arsenal decided to send him back on a season long loan spell with his former Club Deportivo last summer but he’s struggled to make any impact. The 29-year-old striker featured in 34 La Liga games but he managed to find the back of the net only seven times.
With the presence of Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang and Alexandre Lacazette, Perez will hardly get into the Gunners first team when he returns for next season and he is considering a permanent move away from Arsenal.
He currently has two years left on his current contract with Arsenal. Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, who is the agent of the Spaniard revealed that the lure of joining Lazio tickles the fancy of Perez.
“As for Lucas, he likes the idea of Lazio, but it’s still too early to talk about it. At Lazio, there is his great friend, Luis Alberto. He still has two years on his contract with Arsenal, so we need to talk to them first,” Lovelle told Lalaziosiamonoi.it.
He further revealed that the player’s likeness for Lazio could be mutual as the club enquired about his availability last summer.
He said, “Lazio asked for him last year, but then nothing came of it. Lucas has always liked both Lazio and the city of Rome.”
It is only a matter of when and not If Perez will leave Arsenal.
