Gonzalo Higuain is heavily linked with a move to join Chelsea in January. The on-loan star at AC Milan has asked to leave the San Siro to join former boss Maurizio Sarri at the Bridge.
Chelsea tried to nab the star in the summer, but were pipped by Milan who leapfrogged the English champions by signing the 31-year-old first.
While reports peddled of talks already underway, Milan have come out to rebuff such news. The Italian side have waved off talks insisting that Chelsea have submitted a bid for Higuain.
Milan’s director Leonardo, says no deal has been received from Chelsea for the season-loan striker.
Higuain who played remarkably well under Sarri’s tutelage at Napoli, has struggled to hit top form this campaign for Milan, who signed him because they lack strong threat at the front line.
Morata will be offloaded and talks suggested a likely swap deal between both outfits. But Leonardo downplayed talks that Higuain is trying to exit the club, as peddled by news outlets.
Albeit there is interest coming from Chelsea for the goal scoring machine, Milan insists there has been no offers from Chelsea.
“We haven’t received any offer from Chelsea – no one has asked us for him and he didn’t ask to leave. Anyway, at AC Milan we keep only the players who want to stay here.” Says Leonardo.
Chelsea will have to take a seat until the window is opened in January.
