£75m-rated Antonio Conte’s favourite reveals why he joined club, deal closed

Former Chelsea target and Liverpool Centre-back Virgil Van Dijk has revealed why he chose a move with the Reds over Chelsea and Manchester City, per reports.

Van Dijk is currently the most expensive defender in the world after Liverpool paid a bogus £75m to sign him from Southampton. He was on the radar of the Reds in the summer but the Saint did not even blink at the offers made for him at that time.

Antonio Conte revealed after the player was confirmed by Liverpool that he wanted to sign the star for Chelsea but for his price tag. Even if Chelsea were able to match Liverpool’s offer, Van Dijk would have joined the Reds as he had set his sight on the club.

“I think the size of the club, the fans, the players, the manager, the whole package here is amazing,” he told Sky Sports “You can see yourself that the atmosphere at every home game is amazing. I’m just very happy to play for the club.”

Antonio Conte is currently dissatisfied with the size of his squad and he is looking to add a left wing back to the team. Chelsea bolstered their squad in the summer and have signed Ross Barkley in this transfer but Conte appears to be in need of new signings.

Meanwhile, Van Dijk scored on his debut for Liverpool and he is expected to leave up to his price tag. We’ll keep an eye on him to see.
