Manchester United primary target has hinted he could stay at White Hart Lane despite strong rumours linking him to Old Trafford.
The Belgium international has been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford following his refusal to put pen on paper for a proposed contract extension with the English outfit.
However, the 29-year-old has revealed he is not really expecting anything to come out of the rumours linking him to Old Trafford.
Speaking to reporters after Belgium’s World Cup friendly win over Costa Rica, the defender explained that he still contracted at White Hart Lane for the next two years, and would probably stick with the club.
“Yeah, why not? he told reporters. “I have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what is going to happen.”
Meanwhile, sources from ESPN FC have revealed that United valuations for the defender are gulfs apart from what Spurs are demanding.
It is believed United are £20 million short and had hoped to to seal the deal for the Tottenham ace before the World Cup in Russia but nothing however has materialised.
Spurs valuation for the player is understood to be in the region of £70 million but United were begging to pay £50 million.
Nonetheless, if United are patient enough, they could get Alderweireld for even lesser next summer. The Belgian will be allowed to leave White Hart Lane next summer for £25 million.
