Chelsea are yet to confirm the signing of any player this term but the fight for Antonio Conte to bolster his squad seem not to be yielding any fruits as their prime transfer target Marco Verratti has agreed personal terms with Barcelona over a move, report the Metro.
The Blues conquered the Premier League last season with N’golo Kante orchestrating play from the midfield. Albeit Matic did very well for the Blues, Antonio Conte has identified Verratti as an ideal partner for Kante.
Since joining Paris Saint Germain, Verratti has been a huge asset for the Parc des Princes outfit but his stellar performance has not gone unnoticed by Barcelona. The Camp Nou outfit have a thin midfield and Ernesto Valverde has made the diminutive Italian a priority target.
The report has claimed that Verratti has his heart with Barcelona and a deal is for him to join has already being struck by his agent and the representatives of Barcelona in Ibiza.
It is understood that an offer of £61m has been put on the table of PSG for the star player but they are holding out for a much higher fee, according to Don Balon.
Chelsea will be involved in the Champions League as well as other competitions. Conte must reinforce all areas of his squad if he wants the Blues to go one better than last season. However, Bakayoko has been linked with a move to Chelsea and he’ll be a great signing methinks.
Verrati has also been a subject of keen interest from Arsenal.
