In the Premier League, Manchester United currently have the most expensive midfielder and striker but Jose Mourinho is poised to still unleash his hefty transfer war-chest on his targets.
Man United have already signed on two out of the four players Mourinho had proposed to sign and it now appears that his next signing would be a midfielder. Tiemoue Bakayoko was heavy linked with a move to Old Trafford but before then Serbian international Nemanja Matic was mooted for a move.
Latest reports according to the Express has claimed that England international and Tottenham versatile defensive midfielder Eric Dier has informed his friends that he wants a move to Manchester United.
The departure of Wayne Rooney and the apparent decline of Man United’s new Captain Michael Carrick has left the midfield of the Red Devils thread bare. Mourinho is in the search for a perfect partner for Paul Pogba and Dier is believed to be good enough to make the midfield of United impenetrable.
United have valued Dier at £40million but the Lily whites are said to have tagged him with £60million and given the inflated nature of the transfer window, they certainly will not soft-pedal on their demands. Jose Mourinho has the propensity to spend big and so, all the Clubs he approaches will slap him with bogus sums.
Man United and Tottenham have a history of players transfer. Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov moved from Tottenham to United and it is now given that despite Chelsea’s widespread theories of not selling players to their rivals, Tottenham will not follow suit.
Dier can play as a centre-back or a central midfielder.
