5th summer signing? Chelsea to beat Man United to the signing of £55m-rated attacker

There is an ongoing battle between Chelsea and Manchester United in the transfer window and the deal that saw Romelu Lukaku join Man United is not the last them.

Manchester United have bolstered their squad with three top-notch players in this transfer window but Mourinho has reiterated his desire to sign at least one more player before the window is slammed shut. Since the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, United have been heavily linked with a move for Ivan Perisic but all their efforts to sign the Croatian has hit the rocks.

However, Argentina legend and former Chelsea star Hernan Crespo reckons that Chelsea could snap up a deal for Perisic under the nose of Man United before the close of the window.

The former striker of Chelsea spoke with Express sport  in collaboration with Betstars and he said;

“It’s possible he joins Chelsea – but he plays on the left and on the left you have Eden Hazard, Perisic and Marcos Alonso.

“Maybe he could come in through the middle or to the right.

“Perisic is a good player but I don’t know if Inter wants to sell. I think ‘no’ but it depends on money. It’s always the same. It depends on money.

“If you put a lot of money down, even Inter will sell him, but they don’t want to sell him.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has bemoaned the dearth of transfer activities at the club since he signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid. He had signified interest in Inter Milan’s Antonio Candreva but the San Siro outlet refused to listen to offers for him.

Manchester United have seen a bid of £45m for Perisic thrown out by Inter Milan, as the club is holding out for £55m. We understand that Perisic is on the verge of signing an improve contract with Inter Milan and that may see the club tie him down.

The transfer window is still very much open anything can still happen
