Liverpool may have to start looking for a replacement for Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, following latest development.
According to latest reports making the rounds, Barcelona have offered €130million (£118m) to Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho has been has been on the transfer radar of the Camp Nou Landlords since the untimely departure of Neymar to PSG and he has been identified the best replacement for his compatriot.
Barcelona had made two offers to the Reds to the tune of £72m and the £90m but it was meted with outright rebuff. However, O’jogo now claims that the Blaugrana have returned with an improved offer, with the hopes that the Reds will accept the offer for him.
Barcelona have endured a torrid start to the season having suffered defeats to their capital rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga curtain-raiser dubbed as the Super Cup. To worsen the dearth of quality players at the club, Luis Suarez picked up an injury and is now ruled out of action, leaving with no choice than to bolster their squad.
The report by O’jogo claims a five-year deal has been offered Coutinho and an announcement for the deal is imminent. Coutinho had issued the Reds a transfer request last week and he is currently on the recovery pane from a back injury.
Coutinho was pivotal to Liverpool’s fourth placed finish in the League last term and while they want to hold on to the player Barcelona are hell bent of prising him away from Anfield.
