5-year deal agreed: £30m-rated tough-tackler completes Chelsea deal, medical scheduled

The fact that Chelsea were yet to announce the signing of any player in this transfer window does not mean Antonio Conte is oblivious that he must bolster his squad to stage a strong  title defense.

Last night, GFN reported that Chelsea advanced talks with the agent of Antonio Rudiger ahead of a deal with us. The player’s agent arrived London to broker a deal for the tough-tackling German defender.

There have now been a breakthrough for Chelsea as they have agreed to pay £30million to get the player to lace his boots for them , the report is being peddled by Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Kostas Manolas and Alex Sandro but a deal for the aforementioned players has not been forthcoming. Rudiger had been on the transfer radar of Chelsea since last summer and was close to joining but an injury he sustained before the Euro Championship.

The Blues have lost Nathan Ake to Bournemouth in a record deal while John Terry’s future remains bleak. This has left Conte with no choice than to bolster his defense.

Rudiger is being represented by his brother Sahr Senesie, who has been in London since yesterday for the deal. However, the Italian journalist claims that Chelsea and Roma have agreed a £29million fee plus £5m in add-ons. The deal agreed on is a 5-year deal and he will earn £77,000-a-week.

A medical has been scheduled to take place on Monday before the deal will be formerly announced by Chelsea.

Rudiger can play on the right side of a back three and he is expected to usurp Azpilicueta to a place in the first team of Chelsea.

Roma have been forced to sell before the end of the month in order to comply with Italian Financial Fair play.
