4-2-3-1 with Mkhitaryan – how Man United will line up with Asensio after completing £177m deal

The January transfer window is barely seven weeks from being opened but Manchester United have been linked with a record deal for Real Madrid star attack Marco Asensio.

Asensio suddenly took advantage of the absence of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid squad and made a name for himself with series of barnstorming displays.

According to Don Balon, Jose Mourinho is ready to sanction a record £177million for the Spaniard. If this deal pulls through, he’ll become the most expensive Man United player ever.

Jose Mourinho wanted to sign four players in the last summer transfer window and despite making several offers for Ivan Perisic to fortify his attack, the move failed.

While many would fancy  Asensio as the man for United, we take a swipe at how United will look if they sign Marco Asensio .

Jose Mourinho has stuck with the 4-2-3-1 formation but this has been a success in terms of defence. The Red Devils have conceded the least goals in the league this term and they had the second best defensive record in the league last term despite ending in sixth position on the log.

Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Ashley/ Rojo are likely going to be the back four.

The place of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba in the middle of the pack in not disputable. Playing ahead of them would be Mkhitaryan, who is expected to feed Lukaku more.

Man United will line-up with a three man attack and the presence of Asensio is expected to make the attack bite. Rshford will play from the left, Asensio from the right while Lukaku will the lead the party in attack.
