Juan Mata has revealed that he is in talks with Manchester United over signing a new and improve contract, according to reports.
Mata has forced his way into first team of Jose Mourinho – the highlight of his season thus far is the sublime free-kick he scored against Juventus in Turin last night before United sealed the win by an Alex Sandro own-goal.
The Spanish playmaker arrived Manchester United from Chelsea in the summer of 2014 but on the arrival of Jose Moruinho in 2016, he became out favour.
His current deal with United will expire at the end of the season and if he fails to extend his deal, he could work away as a free agent.’
However, the playmaker has stated that he is in talks with United over signing a new deal.
‘I am very happy in England, my contract is up in the summer, and I’m in talks with Manchester United in order to see what happens,’ Mata told El Transistor after United’s win over Juve.
Mourinho bolstered his squad in the summer transfer window and he is looking to do same in January, with the defence as his priority.
United have lacked a skillful playmaker and Mata is about the only player that perfectly fits in that role.
