Chelsea have started preparation for their title defense ahead of the upcoming season, barring Willy Cabellero, the new recruits captured Antonio Conte are expected to slot in the Blues’ first team.
Antonio Rudiger switched to Chelsea from Roma and he was joined at Stamford Bridge by Monoca’s Tiemoue Bakayoko. The aforementioned players have bolstered the defense and midfield of Chelsea but by Alvaro Morata emerged as the Chelsea’s new striker after Real Madrid agreed terms with Chelsea for the player’s transfer.
Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation last season and it worked well for his team as they won a record 30-games before clinching the Premier League title but we take a swipe of how the team will look with probable new signing Alvaro Morata.
Thibaut Courtois remains the indisputable man in-between the sticks for Chelsea. He has been linked with a move to Madrid but their preference for Man United David De Gea means he will be a Stamford Bridge for a long time. Willy Cabellero is expected to play second fiddle to him.
Summer arrival Antonio Rudiger is expected to form an inpenetrable midfield trio with David Luis and Gary Cahil. Luis is expected to man the heart of defense with his tough-tackles, while Cahil and Rudiger will provide covers for him on the left and right respectively.
Conte plays with two in central midfield and two as wing backs. Kante will shore up the middle of the pack for the Blues and close him will be new signing Bakayoko, who add creativity and incisive runs to his style. Given the injury to Bakayoko, Fabregas will partner Kante in the midfield but Bakoyoko will be given the nod ahead of him when he returns.
Victor Moses will retain his place on the right flank with Marcos Alonso expected to play as the left wing back. Chelsea have been credited with interest for Real Madrid’s Danilo but he will certainly need time to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League.
While Alvaro Morata will lead the attack but behind him will see Eden Hazard and Pedro Rodriguez making those penetrative runs and passes. Willian can play in Pedro’s stead but Conte seem to prefer the Spaniard behind his lead attacker.
Probable line-up: Courtois, Rudiger, Luis, Cahill, Moses, Alonso, Kante, Bakayoko, Pedro, Hazard and Morata.
