Manchester United goalkeeper, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, Sam Johnston has revealed that he’s yet to clarify his future at Old Trafford as there are rumors suggesting that he could permanently switch to Aston Villa in the summer should they promote to the Premier League next season.
The 24-year-old has been in an impressive form for the Villa Park outfits since the start of this current campaign and Villa’s hierarchy are looking at the prospect of signing him on a permanent deal before the start of next season.
According to Tony Xia who is Aston Villa chairman, Johnstone will remain with the Championship side till the end of the season and should they promote to Premier League next season, the netminder would be signed permanently.
It was earlier reported this week via M.E.N. Sport that Manchester United are set to offer the player a one-year contract extension so as to tie him to Old Trafford until end of 2018-19 season.
Johnstone couldn’t break into José Mourinho’s first team despite his great form for the Red Devils youth team. As a result of being unable to get first-team action, he joined Villa in search of regular playing-time last summer.
He is reportedly being tracked by numerous Premier League clubs but Johnstone admitted he hasn’t decide whether to permanently move out of Old Trafford in the summer.
While Speaking to the Villa website, the 24-year-old confessed his love for Aston Villa and their playing style. He also tild reporters that he loves playing for the Championship side as they have given the chance to feature more regularly.
“I enjoy it here. I love playing football here and training every day,” he said.
He told reporters that he will decide his future by the end of the season after speaking with him the José Mourinho to know if the manager has him in his plans for next season.
