£20m bid: Chelsea to agree deal for Maurizio Sarri’s favourite

Hysaj Elseid linked move to Chelsea is no longer a spoof, after his agent confirmed a move away from Napoli is in the offing.

The defender was keen to join Chelsea this summer when Chelsea raided Napoli and picked up Jorginho.

Elseid move was scuppered by Napoli because they considered him indispensable. Napoli then, put a bar on any move from the Premier League club to sign its players, after both clubs had a slight ruffle over the signing of Jorginho in the summer.

The prospect of landing Elseid in January look very likely to happen. Elseid has yet to ink his signature under a new deal and he is looking to walk away from Napoli in January, reuniting with former boss Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

Elseid is valued at 45 million pounds, and Chelsea have made an early bid for the player, starting at 20 million pounds. It falls short of Napoli’s evaluation, which could tempt them to bow out of any further negotiations.

But the arrival of Frenchman Kevin Malcuit, could force the club to argue down a softer bid for Elseid. This puts Chelsea at a better position to haggle for a less pricier fee for Elseid.
