£18m bid offered: Arsenal on the brink of midfielder transfer, not Suarez

Spanish club Atletico Madrid have tabled an £18m bid to sign under-fire Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, this is according to reports.

Just about a year ago, Arsenal handed Ozil a bogus contract extension deal to make him the highest paid in the history of the club but he has fallen out of favour with Gunners boss Unai Emery.

Speculations have continued to mount over the future of the ex-Germany international and he has been strongly linked with a move away from the club.

He was left out of Arsenal match day squad against West Ham over the last weekend and several questions were raise because he as certified fit ahead of the game,

While he has several admirers across Europe, Los Rojiblancos are favourites to sign him. El Gol Digital  reports that the La Liga side have offered £18m to Arsenal in a bid to sign him.

It is widely believed that Arsenal are trying to recoup funds from his sale and wage bill to sign other targets for Unai Emery.

However, Ozil earns £350,000 per week and this could present a huge stumbling block to any deal.

  1. I am of the opinion that Arsenal is getting nowhere fast. Emery maybe a more modern man than Arsene, but he also carries a lot of baggages: our understanding is that he lost his leadership control to Neymar at his last post. But I personally feel that he’s VERY conservative, if not jealous, of the pay packets of Ozil and Ramsey and resorted to working against their interests. As at now, he’s at loggerheads with Mislilltat. By the time he’s through, Arsenal will be a Mid table team-attracting noteworthy players and losing their best players. Furthermore, I’m beginning to doubt his ability in team selection.
I think he’s ultimately leading us to love him just Josè was loved earlier at Chelsea and lately Man U.
