£15m bid made: Chelsea close to deal for Tottenham prime target

The January transfer window is now very well in full swing and we expect Chelsea to be a tad busy as they search for quality players.

Chelsea have made English star and Everton target Ross Barkley a prime target this January and they are looking to beat Tottenham to the player’s signature, claims report.

Barkley has been out of action since the start of this season due to  a hamstring injury and Chelsea are yet keen on signing him as he resumed training a fortnight ago. The Blues were linked with a deal for him in the summer but their attempt to get him failed.

And now, London Evening News are in the claim that Chelsea have tabled a £15m bid for the attacking midfielder and they want the deal to be completed as soon as possible. Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for Fernando Llorente in the summer but they were stunned after Tottenham beat them to his signature.

Barkley is in the final year of his contract with the Toffees and he has stalled over a new deal. Tottenham have been hoping that they can get him on a free transfer in the summer but Chelsea appear to be winning the race for his signature.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that the player will be allowed to leave. “The club was resigned to losing Ross before I got here. I can’t see that changing.” he said.

Barkley may not walk into the first team of Chelsea but he will provide depth for Conte on the bench.
