Andreas Pereira spent last season on loan at Spanish club Granada but now wants to break into Manchester United first-team next season.
And the Brazilian showed why he deserves to be given a chance to shine at Old Trafford after his performance against Real Madrid, much to the admiration of the fans, who were handed their first time of watching him play at no 10.
Pereira played in the position for Brazil U20 side and believes he can operate effectively there. And With the departure of Wayne Rooney and Jose Mourinho preference for using Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the flanks, Mourinho should look towards handling Pereira the no 10 role at United next season.
Against Real Madrid, Pereira knew what was at stake – to convince Mourinho- and was impressive, quick on the ball, creative and played with determination, which explained why he was the fifth in the La Liga standings for most successful completed take-ons last season.
An intriguing moment of the match which confirmed the 21-year-old undoubted potentials was when he kept possession and shrugged off players like Toni Kroos, Marcelo and Danilo before passing on the ball.
Of course, he has played against the La Liga champions in the Spanish League before but not in a pre-season and his performance showed he could be ready for more familiar role at United.
His loan spell at Granada has helped him to garner more experience. He played in different roles for Granada in 35 matches, scoring five goals and assisting another three, though he could not prevent them from being relegated.
But his work rate ensured he kept his place in their starting line-up. And with that, Mourinho definitely have a promising young player at his disposal. With Man United competing on four fronts next season, it can be rightly expected that the player would make some appearances.
