Manchester United and Italy international full-back Matteo Darmian is reportedly considering a move out of Old Trafford after falling out of favour with José Mourinho.
The player who joined the Red Devils in 2014 has failed in his bid to establish himself as one of the team’s regular starters under the Portuguese’s watch, and he is set to move back to his homeland where he would be guaranteed regular first-team action.
Darmian last started a match for the 20-time Premier League Champions in a 4-0 away win to Yeovil Town in FA Cup fourth-round fixture in January. The former Torino star could be heading to Turin in the summer as Juventus are reportedly leading the chase for the 26-year-old full-back.
The Calciomercato claims that Darmian has reached an agreement with the Old Lady after being impressed with the club’s contract offer. The report also suggests that his switch to the Serie A Champions could be finalised in the summer ahead of the 2018-19 season.
Despite reaching an agreement with the player, Darmian’s move out of Old Trafford could encounter some hitches as the Italian giants are yet to make an official approach to Manchester United so as to negotiate on his price tag.
It is believed that Maximiliano Allegri’s side are still considering whether to complete their move for the full-back or to wait for Kwadwo Asamoah’s decision by the end of the season. They are also linked with a move for Arsenal’s right-back Hector Bellerin in the summer.
Juventus currently occupy the first position in the Serie A league standings ahead of Napoli who are closely behind them by just a point.
