Arsenal have confirmed the signing of French midfield sensation Matteo Guendouzi, and boss of the side Unai Emery has revealed that the rising star wants a place in the first team of his squad.
The 19-year-old star signed a five-year contract with Arsenal after agreeing to leave Lorient. He was in training with Arsenal yesterday and it appears that he is settling down very well.
Guendouzi followed Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis and Lucas Torreira to become the Gunners fifth signing of the summer. Nonetheless, the youngster is widely expected to join the B-team of Arsenal and then work his way to the first team of the squad.
However, Emery has revealed that the player is not one for the future but now:
“He [Guendouzi] wants to learn and improve and will be an important part of our first-team squad,” Emery explained.
“We are delighted Matteo is joining us. He is a talented young player and a lot of clubs were interested in him. He has big potential and gained good first-team experience last season with Lorient.”
The 19-year-old midfielder was a key figure in the middle of the pack for Lorient last season, where he featured in 21 league games despite his age.
He attracted interest from several top European clubs but Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat was able to convince him to join Arsenal. The new season less than a month of being opened and we hope to see the player doing his business for the Gunners.
