Arsenal’s involvement in the immediate past transfer market was mainly due to the sale of players as the club spent on the signing of only Alexandre Lacazette while a chunk of those that starred in the first team were sold.
Lucas Perez, Kierran Gibbs and Gabriel Paulista found their way out of the Emirates this summer, Mustafi was heavily linked with a move away and now latest reports have indicated that Jack Wilshere spoke with the Turkish side Trabzonspor over a potential move.
Wilshere has had a torrid career with Arsenal as he is constantly banjaxed with injury. The signing of Granit Xhaka from Borrussia Monchengladback saw Wilshere fell down the selection pecking order of Arsene Wenger last summer and he was sent on loan to Bournemouth. The English star had his longest spell without injury as he played over half of the season without injury. However, he picked up an injury and finished the season on the recovery pane.
The 25-year-old is also in the final year of his current contract with Arsenal and he was heavily linked with a move away from the club with West Ham, Newcastle, Swansea, Sampdoria, Fenerbahce and Antalyaspor credited with interest. However, Trabzonspor were the closest as claimed by the club’s chief Muharrem Usta.
“I held direct talks with Jack Wilshere, ” Usta told Turkish-Football.
“We wanted him on loan and were close to a deal but the move stalled at the last moment.”
Wilshere is expected to feature for Arsenal in their Europa league game against FC Koln on Thursday and he has been tipped as the man to step into the boost of Santi Cazorla.
