Arsenal are currently the most successful Premier League club from London and the status of the club has attracted a lot of footballers to their side. Arsenal goalie Petr Cech has revealed the difference between Arsenal and Chelsea’s selection and why he misses his former club, per report.
Cech commanded regular shirt for Chelsea during his 11-year spell with the club as he helped the club to win four Premier League trophies, the Champions League and four FA Cups.
However, the return of Thibaut Courtois from a loan spell at Atletico Madrid reduced him to the fringes of the club until he decided to complete a switch to North London with Arsenal in the summer of 2015.
Since joining the Gunners, Cech has been first choice for Arsenal albeit in the Premier League – Arsene Wenger has preferred using David Ospina to play the Champions League and other competitions but it appears that Cech is not pleased with that policy.
He said: “At Chelsea we never decided which competition you play, it was a game by game process.
“If you kept playing well then you were fit and you didn’t need rest then the manager had his choice to pick the goalkeeper for the competitions.
“Sometimes I would sit a game out or be on the bench but it would not be decided, ‘You play this competition, you play this competition’.
“I enjoyed that because I love this competition for example, to be involved and play FA Cup games. Any other competition makes it a bit more spicy and special.”
Cech missed out on Arsenal’s win over Stoke City in the Premier League last weekend due to injury but despite his return, he will not be featuring in the Europa Cup as Arsenal take on CSKA Moscow on Thursday night.
Arsene Wenger has so many policies and most of them have not helped the club achieve result on the pitch in recent time.
