Official: Ivan Gazidis personally confirms Arsenal deal for Barcelona star man

GFN reported that Arsenal were close to appointing a new director of football on Monday and now reports have indicated that former Barcelona man Raul Sanllehi has been officially appointed as the head of football relations at Arsenal.

It appears that Arsenal are already putting structures for life after Arsene Wenger. Just recently the Gunners appointed Sven Mislintat as the new head of recruitment and they have continued to restructure the backroom of the club.

Sanhelli stepped down from his position as director of football at Barcelona after spending 14-years under three different regimes and he will formally join Arsenal in the February of next year.

Confirming the appointment, Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis said:

“In the past three years we have supplemented our team with more top-class expertise across every aspect of our football operations.

“Raul’s appointment is another important step in developing the infrastructure we need at the club to take everything we do to the next level.

“Raul has extensive contacts across the football world and has been directly involved in some of the biggest transfers in Europe in recent years. We look forward to him bringing that expertise to Arsenal.”

The recent appointment made by Arsenal is certain to reduce the power that Arsene Wenger exhibits. Dubbed as a dictator, Wenger may not have all the say in the football and transfer business of the club.

Wenger extended his contract by two years in the summer but the club will further review his position at the end of the season as he claims.

Monsieur Wenger has been solely responsible for running the entire affairs of the club but these appointment are bound to clutch his wings and we should brace ourselves for possible frictions.

This report has come as a massive news for Arsenal and the future already looks bright because they are now acting like other elite clubs.
