Chelsea are on the verge of confirming the signing of Edin Dzeko from Roma but emerging reports in Spain have indicated that Marco Asensio will become a Chelsea player only on the condition that he is swapped with Eden Hazard, according to reports.
Asensio started this season brightly for Madrid but his stock has suddenly dropped as he has struggled to get regular game time under Zinedine zidane. Despite the obvious poor form of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, the young Spaniard has watched from the sidelines.
Zidane is very well known as a staunch admirer of Eden Hazard and there are claims that he would attempt to sign the Belgian in the summer, as they prepare for life after Ronaldo. According to Spanish publication Diario Gol, the signing of Hazard will signify the end of Asensio’s spell with Madrid.
According to the report, Asensio has set his sight on joining Chelsea as long as Zidane remains the helms man of Los Blancos. Even though Chelsea may demand a fee and Asensio as part of Hazard deal, Asensio is willing to make the move as he looks to salvage his career.
The 21-year-old star knows he will be overlooked by Spain as they prepare for the World Cup as it is given that he hardly plays for Madrid. Morata was sparingly used by Zidane but at Chelsea, he is currently playing and Asensio is hoping to have similar story.
Asensio is currently valued at £45.00m.
