Chelsea have agreed to pay £86million to Real Madrid for the signing of Spanish left footer Marco Asensio, this is according to report.
Despite having a barnstorming start to this season, Asensio has remained a bit-part player for Los Blancos and he is frustrated at the situation. The player was heavily linked with a move with Manchester United last summer but it looks as though Chelsea are in pole position to secure a deal for him.
According to the Express, who reported via Spanish tabloid Don Balon, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned a big money move for the Spaniard. The report further claims, Chelsea’s representatives are currently in the capital of Spain to discuss a move for the the player.
Antonio Conte has bemoaned the lack of top-notch players in his side and he has blamed Chelsea’s failure to defend the title on this. It is widely reported that Conte will only continue to manage Chelsea if quality reinforcements are signed by the club.
It is understood that Alvaro Morata is trying to lure the player to Stamford Bridge – the pair were teammates in Madrid before Morata join Chelsea in a record deal last summer.
Asensio’s place in the national team of Spain isn’t guaranteed and the youngster has blamed it on his inability to play regularly for Madrid.
