Despite the enormous amount of money spent in the transfer market of last summer, Manchester United may be heading for another spree as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster some areas of his otherwise solid team.
France international and Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Antoine Griezmann has been on the radar of the Red Devils and they have been handed a chance at signing to lethal attacker. The Metro claims, Diego Simeone has mooted a fee that will be accepted to let Griezmman leave Vicente Calderon.
In the report cited, it is claimed that Atletico Madrid values the star player at €100 million (£86.4m), which is a tad close to what was paid for Pogba.
Since moving from Real Sociedad to Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014, Griezmann has become one of the most prolific attackers in the world. Although, Atletic Madrid have been unable to replicate their form of last season, Griezmann has been their standout performer with 14 goals and seven assist in La Liga this term.
Griezmann, 26, had initially claimed that he will stay put with the Rojiblancos albeit the recent submission of Simeone is not in tandem with that report. Simeone was quizzed about the future of the French by AS, if he could leave and he responded thus;
“Yes, because there is a termination clause. There is no security.’
Griezmann can play for the Red Devils in the stead of Wayne Rooney, who has been recently linked with a move away from Old Trafford. Griezmann can play behind the striker or on the flank and he is adept at providing assists for his attackers.
