José Mourinho is still keen on adding to an already star-studded squad following the successful signing of Brazilian midfielder Fred from Ukraine outfit Shakhtar Donestk.
The Portuguese boss is reportedly keen on adding a defender to his side and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is one man he has handpicked.
According to Manchester Evening News, the club has been told what they would have to pay to get his services.
Koulibaly, widely touted as one of the best centre-backs in Europe has also been linked with a move to rival club Chelsea and the 26-year-old could cost United an excess of £70 million, reveal Italian newspaper TMW.
Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld has also been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford although there are indications landing him could prove tough after the Belgian showed signs he could remain at Wembley.
On the other side, former United attacker Dwight Yorke has suggested the Red Devils should do all they can to sign Welshman and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale this summer.
Yorke believes the 28-year-old “suits” the English outfit more than any signings the club will push for in the summer window.
“United and Jose don’t need to look at the World Cup. No player suits us more than Gareth Bale,” Yorke told 888 Sport.
He added that Bale is at the pinnacle of his career and signing him now is the perfect option.
