Man United to agree £30m deal for Tottenham star

Manchester United manager José Mourinho is currently facing one of the worst moments since he took over as Manchester United boss in the 2016-17 season. Manchester United seem to have lost their fear-factor as they played without any conviction and desire to win the trophy.

In their match against Newcastle last Sunday, the team’s performance was nothing close to a team who are vying for a top-four finish. The defence was constantly under threat from the struggling Magpies attack. The midfield led by Paul Pogba was as lifeless as the match against Tottenham some weeks back.

With the awful performance in their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park, the Portuguese manager is beginning to search for a new central defender who will partner Eric Bailly when the Ivorian returns to the manager’s starting lineup.

Chris Smalling has been criticized by United’s faithfuls for his uninspiring displays since the injury to the Ivorian full-back and Mourinho is considering bringing Toby Alderweireld from the Wembley outfit in the summer.

Alderweireld, 28, just returned from his three-month injury spell, and he hasn’t featured for the team after his successful recovery process. The England international will be out of contract in 18 months, and he is reportedly not willing to extend his contract with the North London club which means that he could move to United in the summer.

Tottenham who are in need of £1billion for the construction of their new stadium might be forced to cash-in on the player by sanctioning his move to Old Trafford.

Eric Bailly is set to return to action in the Champions League match against Sevilla on Wednesday.
