Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hopes to beat United and Arsenal to Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred as he aims to bid £45million for the player.
Pep Guardiola whose team has been in incredible form this season seems unsatisfied with his crop of players and he wants to add more creativity to his team’s display in the middle of the pitch. The Spanish manager wants Fred at the Etihad stadium as back-up to impressive but ageing Brazil international Fernandinho who is 32.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Ukrainian champions Donetsk are set to receive £45million from Premier League runaway Champions before the end of the month in order to sanction the release of their influential midfielder.
M. E. N further suggests that Donetsk might not release the Brazilian midfielder for such low price as they believe Fred is more valuable than the price Manchester City are willing to pay.
United and Arsenal were the first clubs to have shown interest in the 24-year-old midfielder. It is believed that Fred will replace long-serving Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick who is set to end his wonderful football career at the end of the season.
Fred 24, has featured in 90 League games and has scored nine goals for the Ukrainian Champions since his move from Inter Milan in 2013-.
