Liverpool have advanced talks to sign Leicester City silky forward Riyad Mahrez as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho, according to latest reports.
Mahrez is destined to play for one of the Premier League elites Club given his talents and Express sport got an exclusive reports that the representatives of the Algerian have met and begun discussion with the hierarchy of Liverpool. However, the report has claimed that Mahrez wants move to the Emirates and not Anfield.
There is currently a massive deep in the midfield of Liverpool following the departure of Coutinho and the Reds must replace him in order to remain competitive. There are several theories already propounded that Liverpool are not as strong as they were when Coutinho was around.
The Reds have been linked with a move for Naby Keita but it appears that Mahrez could be the easier target.
Arsenal have had a long standing interest in Mahrez and the silky left footer handed a transfer request to the Foxes last summer. Even though Arsenal appear to have cooled off their interest in him, he still wants a move to the Emirates, probably because of the style of play.
Mahrez is currently in blistering form and Leicester City manger Claude Puel has revealed that they are unwilling to accept offers for the star man.
Puel said: “He is a happy player. After that it is all speculation.
“There is no problem. I want to continue to work with my best players like Riyad.”
