José Mourinho is hopeful of signing Mesut Ozil from Arsenal for £22million in January. According to Daily Star, the Portuguese manager won’t wait until summer transfer when he could get the player for free, as he wants to pile more pressure on Manchester City in the title race.
Mourinho knows Mesut Ozil, whom he worked with during his time as Real Madrid coach, has the potential to split dogged defences which has been one of United’s major hurdles in the EPL.
Manchester United are ready to get the player from Arsenal in January before Barcelona make an offer for the Germany International, as per report from Don Balon.
The Manchester club will definitely be hoping Arsene Wenger accepts the offer which might turn out to be a great deal for the Gunners, considering that Ozil is in the final months of his contract.
If the offer is rejected, the former Real Madrid playmaker will be available for free and will be able to join any team of his choice, making the Gunners to count their loses on their £42.5 million signing. Arsenal have failed to convince the German international that he can win top trophies in Europe, as he has just three FA Cup trophies to show for his efforts since he signed in the summer of 2013.
A move out of Arsenal looks more likely but it remains to be seen whether he could don the Man United colours next year.
