Wenger has reiterated his desire to keep Theo Walcott despite rumours linking him to Southampton and AC Milan.
The England international who has lost his place in Wenger’s starting lineup has confessed that he would love to quit Arsenal in search of a club where he will constantly enjoy much playing time. He hasn’t started any match for the Gunners, and has only been used in just five Premier League matches as a substitute so far this season.
According to the Mirror, Wenger insists he still wants to retain the player’s services beyond January.“I want him to stay,” The Frenchman said.
AC Milan coach is planning on bringing the 28-year-old to the San Siro as he looks to improve his team in the second half of the Serie A season.
The England international will be hoping the words of his manager are true. Walcott who is hoping to be among the shortlisted players for England’s World Cup squad, is desperate to show Gareth Southgate what he is capable of doing on the football pitch. Hence, his desire for an improved game time.
With the resumption of the Europa league in few weeks, and Arsenal’s presence in the Carabao cup, Walcott might feature in more games for the Gunners in the second half of the season.
